Whether you’re a competitive player or enjoy kicking around the ball with your friends, there is a way for you to participate. All skill levels are welcome! There will be food from local vendors, exciting prizes, activities for kids, music, and a social justice resource fair to learn about all the great organizations and businesses in the Valley! Also, we're happy to announce that Mayor Alex Morse of Holyoke will be presenting the winning teams with their awards at the end of the day! HOW IT WORKS Signup: Create a soccer team of 5-10 players or sign up as an individual and we will assign you to a team. Pick a division: Competitive, Just for Fun, or Family. If registering as a team, pick a team name and designate a Team Captain to stay in touch with the planning crew. You will be guaranteed 3-5 games depending on registration numbers. The games will be 5 vs 5 with small goals and no goalie. Each game will be 30 minutes long with two 15-minute halves. All players/teams are expected to bring a light and dark team jersey. There will be a strict no slide-tackling rule. Amateur referees will call the games. Proceeds from the event will be used to support the critical organizing of Mass JwJ and its 70+ coalition members are doing for workers’ rights and economic justice in Western Mass. It will also benefit the work of the Pioneer Valley Workers Center organizing to build power among Immigrant Righst and Low Wage workers rights! Registration to play or sponsor a team coming soon!

Alex Snydman Trio at Iron Horse
Iron Horse Entertainment/IHEG – Doors at 5:30pm. Eli Catlin opens. Drummer Alex Snydman launched himself onto the modern jazz landscape with his debut album entitled Fortunate Actionwhich released in 2013. Alex explains his inspiration behind the project: "Fortunate Action is a term that to me symbolizes the positive ripples that echo out when we listen to our inner voice. Sometimes this intuition we are all imbued with is telling us to make a difficult decision, but it seems that it is always directing us towards a path of Love." Down Beat Magazine states "Snydman's debut recalls the heartland approach of Brian Blade's Fellowship Band" while All About Jazz declares "Fortunate Action deserves serious attention from critics and fans alike." This sentiment is echoed by EJAZZ NEWS saying "Alex Snydman has offered the listening public a new level of sound, with accolade-blanketed reactions" and Brent Black of Critical Jazz declaring the album as "One of the best for 2013...4.5 Stars...on point in every possible fashion." Alex has performed at major jazz clubs and festivals on the East and West Coasts as a leader and sideman. He has shared the stage with artists such as Grammy winner Charles Neville, Larry Koonse, Grace Kelly, Avery Sharpe, Joe Sanders, Felipe Salles, Miro Sprague, Tatum Greenblatt, Chris Pattishall, Josh Johnson, Carl Clements, Geoff Vidal and many more. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Jazz Performance at The California Institute of the Arts, while maintaining a bi-coastal performance schedule.

Gaelic Storm at The Iron Horse
Iron Horse Entertainment/IHEG – After nearly two decades and more than 3,000 live shows, Gaelic Storm — the chart-topping, multi-national Celtic band — is looking sharper than ever with their latest release, Matching Sweaters. The new album mixes traditional Irish music with modern influences, creating a sound that's as wide-ranging as the band's own audience. From bluegrass fans and country cowboys to Deadheads, rock & rollers and Celtic fanatics, Gaelic Storm has built one of the most diverse fan bases in modern music. Matching Sweaters helps explain the broad appeal. Rooted in the songwriting of founding members Patrick Murphy and Steve Twigger, the album moves from drinking songs ("Another Stupid Drinking Song") to energetic instrumentals ("The Narwhaling Cheesehead") to rootsy pop/rockers ("Whiskeyed Up and Womaned Out"), gluing everything together with the spark and spirit of a band that's spent close to 20 years on the road. "We're a touring band," says percussionist Ryan Lacey, who joined the lineup in 2003. "That's how this band works. Matching Sweaters is one of the most complete albums we've done so far, because it taps into every facet of our live show."

The Stray Birds at Iron Horse, Plus Eavesdrop!
Iron Horse Entertainment/IHEG – Doors at 5:30pm. All originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, The Stray Birds started as a duo of acoustic buskers in early 2010 when Maya de Vitry and Oliver Craven met with their instruments, their voices, and their songs. It didn't take much convincing to get bassist Charlie Muench on board, and with the addition of a third unique and powerful voice, the group began to define its captivating sound. Seven years, three original records, and some six hundred performances later, the band is best known today for its songwriting, its tight and forthcoming vocal harmony blend and its commitment to an impassioned delivery of original material, both on stage and in the studio. They've been seen from LA to London, sung songs from Dallas to Denmark, and played tunes from New York to New Orleans. Their 2016 Yep Roc Records release Magic Fire was produced by Grammy-winner Larry Campbell and earned much praise, including being named by NPR as one of Folk Alley's Top Ten Records of 2016. With time, their sound has evolved to a palate broader than what it first was on the street corners and in the markets, but this much remains true: The Stray Birds is a band of musicians as subtle and nuanced as they are energetic, a band of writers as blatant and bold as they are coy, and perhaps most importantly, a band of people as friendly and compassionate as they are talented. It's safe to imagine that most who hear their music come back for another listen, time and again. ----------------------- Supported by Eavesdrop Hailing from the Northeast, these Pioneer Valley natives provide a sound all their own -- a perfect combination of soulful vocals, intricate harmonies, warm acoustics, and moving rhythm. Stripped-down, raw, and natural, their magic flourishes in the most intimate of spaces. Their vibrant dynamic creates a unique experience for each listener -- constantly crossing the lines between something hauntingly beautiful and incredibly fun!
