Brown International Academy – Books and Bagels with 1st Grade is scheduled for this Friday, March 24th. This is a before school event, starting at 8:30 to the morning bell. Books and Bagels is an opportunity for your student to invite family into their classroom to share their classroom books and reading skills. Moms 'n' Crawlers Group
A Moms Space – Community is one of the most important things in parenthood. There’s nothing like sharing what it’s like and hearing what it’s like for other parents to make us feel saner. Welcome to the Moms, Crawlers, and Waddlers Group. Your little one can play with other littles while you enjoy the company of other mamas. Facilitation of this group will rotate bringing a different focus each week. You can expect some sharing, meditation, intention setting, and laughter. Group field trips are possible too. Come straight from work in your professional clothes, or straight from bed with hair that hasn’t been washed for a week. This is a safe space to be as you are. For babies from 6 months to 2 years old. If you feel you are outgrowing your newborn moms group but are not ready for a toddler group, this is for you. Fridays from 11am-noon at A Moms Space* 424 E. Simpson St, Lafayette *During the warmer months and nice days of April thru September, this group will meet at Waneka Lake Park. Hollis Phelps is an assistant professor of religion at the University of Mount Olive, in Mount Olive, NC. He is the author of Alain Badiou: Between Theology and Anti-Theology and editor, with Philip Goodchild, of Religion and European Philosophy: Key Thinkers from Kant to Zizek, both published by Routledge. He has just completed a book-length manuscript titled A Radical Christ: Jesus on Money, Work, and Family, which provides a non theological, political reading of Jesus in light of contemporary trends in continental philosophy and critical theory. His current research focuses on the economic, theological, and moral valences of debt as means of shaping contemporary subjectivity. In addition to his academic work, he publishes regularly in more popular outlets on religion, politics, and culture.
