Crime Survivors Giving Thanks Campaign
Crime Survivors – Crime Survivors Needs Your Help! As we start preparing for our Giving Thanks Campaign which is scheduled for Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday of Thanksgiving week, we are reaching out to sponsors and donors who would like to partner with us and donate cookies or muffins or pastries. We will be visiting over 500 locations including Police, Sheriff, Fire, Ambulance/EMT, District Attorney, Probation & Victim Advocate agencies/offices to let them know we care and are deeply grateful for the work they do day-in and day-out. It’s our small way of thanking these individuals who in so many ways go ‘above & beyond’ of what’s expected from them in supporting victims of crime. So many of these service personnel go about their work with such a great heart! Each location will receive at least one tray of 2-dozen cookies or muffins or pastries. All-in-all, we will deliver approximately 12,000 cookies or muffins or pastries. As a Southern California non-profit organization, we need your help with donations whether it be in cookies or muffins or pastries or in-kind or monetary support! Make a donation of cookies or muffins or pastries and we will attach a card that says Sponsored by with your company information listed on it. Cash donations and Gift Cards are also welcome and always needed by our organization. It’s such a great way to show our service personnel and communities that we care. What’s more, your charitable donation is tax-deductible. It’s one thing to be doing well in business, it’s quite another to be doing good. It is with heartfelt gratitude that we anticipate your participation. We look forward to working and/or partnering with you… and doing good for our communities. Please contact us at your earliest convenience. Team Crime Survivors firstname.lastname@example.org / (844) 853-HOPE / (949) 872-7895 www.crimesurvivors.org

Arts Brookfield – ARTS BROOKFIELD BRINGS ACCLAIMED BURNING MAN INSTALLATION TO DTLA The ultimate selfie moment just in time for the holidays! Words carry meaning, shape communities, and create pop culture. As the leading purveyor for public art initiatives in downtown Los Angeles, Arts Brookfield is bringing words to life with Monumental Words, an exhibition by artists Laura Kimpton and Jeff Schomberg. This display of internally lit, oversized sculptures will be presented for three months at the premiere shopping destination FIGat7th (735 South Figueroa Street). With a collection of six-foot and 12-foot sculptures, the FIGat7th plaza will be all aglow throughout the holiday season. The installation is free and open to the public as part of Arts Brookfield’s continued effort to activate Brookfield’s public spaces through art. Monumental Words, which debuted at the 2009 Burning Man Festival, provides a simple yet artistic way of expressing and sharing positive vibes. Using words and symbols with instant universal meaning and broad appeal: XOXO, LOVE, and #, the sculptures are the must-snap, selfie moment of the holiday season. Visitors can spread love to family and friends near and far. "In times of world change and strife, I find making art and placing art in public places my way of making change. This show of 12 foot XOXO and Rainbow LOVE spreads the perfect message of sending kisses and hugs and LOVE for all...especially (for) one's self," says artist Laura Kimpton. Monumental Words debuts on Monday, November 20 and is on display through Valentine’s Day, ending on Saturday, February 17. Free and open to the public, the installation will be lit each evening from 4 to 11 pm. Use #MonumentalWords for spreading the LOVE on social media! Strengthen the Anaheim Public Safety Board! Oversight Town Hall
Orange County Communities Organized for Responsible Development – In 2015, Anaheim PD was the 9th deadliest police force among the 60 largest U.S. cities, according to FBI data. When a person dies at the hands of the Anaheim Police Department (APD), an investigation is done – but not by impartial agencies. Anaheim needs independent and effective civilian oversight of the police department. Join us to call for a more transparent and accountable APD: Strengthen the Anaheim Public Safety Board: Police Oversight Town Hall Monday, November 20, 6-7:30 p.m. Arab American Community Center 907 S Beach Blvd. Anaheim, CA 92804 Anaheim's current civilian review body, the pilot Public Safety Board (PSB), must be made stronger! The PSB was initiated in 2014 with nine resident members to review critical incidents by APD and to collaborate with the Office of Independent Review (OIR). OIR is an auditor that reviews officer involved shootings, use of force, and in-custody deaths to make policy change recommendations. Throughout its tenure, the Public Safety Board did not regularly review critical incidents nor did they review citizen complaints against APD officers. Some of the most critical recommendations by OIR were rejected by APD, without deliberation by the Public Safety Board or City Council. Effective civilian oversight entails independence, broad authority to investigate critical incidents and complaints, and enforceable and unfettered access to police records. Meaningful civilian oversight can lead to increased transparency, accountability, and police-community relations. Attend the Anaheim Civilian Oversight Community Forum on Monday, November 20 at 6 p.m. to learn how you can help pass a strong Public Safety Board! Be a part of the process. Have your voice heard. Mark your Calendars for the City Council meeting on November 20.
