Oncology Youth Camp (ages 6-12 years)
Camp Rainbow Gold, Inc. – Are you ready for 2017's Camp Rainbow Gold season? Please remember to mark your calendars for what we hope will be the greatest week of your child’s summer…Sunday, July 23rd through Friday, July 28th . We have been busily planning and preparing for yet another wonderful camp experience. The generosity of many Idaho residents and major fundraising events orchestrated by volunteers brings Camp Rainbow Gold to Life and makes this unique camp available without cost to campers and their families. A full medical staff and a licensed social worker keep a careful and nurturing watch over the medical and emotional needs of every camper. Highly trained camp staff and volunteers aim to provide a fun, safe and caring community for the children. These special children meet other children undergoing similar experiences who can share a bond only found here. Most campers return year after year, building on old friendships, adding new ones and eagerly welcoming first-time campers into the Camp Rainbow Gold family. As the campers get older and experience the youth and teen camps, they still want to come back. And they can. The Junior Counselors program brings them back to mentor their young friends. Please stay tuned to this event notice for more details as we finalize them!!

Elf Power with Storie Grubb and Sleepy Seahorse
Duck Club – Duck Club Presents Athens, Georgia psych-pop legends Elf Power in Boise on July 24th, show at The Olympic with Storie Grubb and Sleepy Seahorse. "Many of us have been truly fortuitous to have had Elf Power in our music-listening lives for many years now. But for the sake of the uninitiated: the band formed in 1994 and share the same timeless quality and charm as many of the like-minded Elephant 6 psychsters with whom they have long-been associated (Orange Twin has issued many of their friends’ records over the years, and some early Elf Power efforts were co-issued by E6). And, just like it was back in those halcyon “noughties” and “oughties,” the band still cultivates a defiant sense of community and distinct anti-glamour through its music, label, and conservationist activities (Elf Power’s multi-instrumentalist Laura Carter’s co-founded Orange Twin Conservation Community ecovillage)." - Tiny Mix Tapes ? ? Monday, July 24, 2017 Elf Power with Storie Grubb and Sleepy Seahorse THE OLYMPIC 7pm doors $10 adv / $12 door 21+ Advance tickets available now elf-power-boise.eventbrite.com or at The Record Exchange More Info: elfpower.com theduckclub.com theolympicboise.com Upcoming Duck Club Shows: facebook.com/DuckClubBoise/events Elf Power formed in 1994 and over the last 23 years have released thirteen albums, two eps, and a handful of singles, while touring North America, Europe, and Japan many times. Albums such as 1998’s Dave Fridmann-produced “A Dream In Sound” and 2008’s collaboration with the late Vic Chesnutt, “Dark Developments” have cemented the bands’ reputation as the finest purveyors of modern melodic psychedelic folk rock around. Their tour in support of their last album , 2013’s “Sunlight on the Moon” , took them on an extensive tour in support of Neutral Milk Hotel’s much acclaimed reunion tour, as well as dates with Broken Bells and headlining dates. Their latest album “Twitching in Time” combines experimental arrangements and sublime songwriting with their powerful live bombast, into their strangest, most cohesive, and most exciting sounding album yet. Opening track “Halloween Out Walking” combines minimal and beautiful folk rock arrangements with otherworldy Moog synthesizer gurglings to awe-inspiring effect. Other highlights include “Watery Shreds”, a piano ballad that transforms itself into an explosive an unexpected distorted guitar drone freakout, sounding like an unlikely marriage of avant-garde keyboardist Laurie Anderson and drone metallers Sunn 0)) . Songs like the title track and “Cycling Aimlessly” are classic fuzzed out melodic rock songs the likes of which the band has become known for , while songs like “Gorging on the Feast” explore a jazzy, melancholy terrain before descending into a shredding heavy rock assault. The constant shifting of sounds and styles makes for one of the band’s most diverse and satisfying albums yet. On this album, singer/songwriter Andrew Rieger and longtime collaborator multi-instrumentalist Laura Carter are joined by Matthew Garrison on bass, Peter Alvanos on drums, and Davey Wrathgabar on guitar. The album is released on May 12, 2017 on the band’s own Orange Twin Records, that has released almost 50 albums since 2001, including releases by Neutral Milk Hotel, Vic Chesnutt, Jeff Mangum, Jack Logan, Nana Grizol, Gerbils and many more.Orange Twin Records works in conjunction with The Orange Twin Conservation Community, 155 acres of beautiful land on the outskirts of Athens, GA that has initiated the development of a highly progressive, self-sustainable and ecologically-minded cluster village and nature preserve.
