Demonstrate the Truth about Chris Collins' Tax Scam!
WNY Peace Center – NY 27 Congressman Chris Collins admits that his primary allegience is to big money donors and pals. He's meeting with some of them at the Saturn Club on Monday. We will be right outside to let average people know what Collins' tax proposal would mean for Western New York. Please join us. We will engage in some Monopoly Man performance art and you are welcome to bring signs about economic justice. #CollinsDoesntCare Under his bill: -- A teacher who buys pens, paper, and pencils for her students would no longer be allowed to deduct those costs—but corporations buying those supplies for millionaire executives would. -- People would no longer be able to deduct the state and local sales taxes from their federal taxes—but corporations would. -- Homeowners would only be allowed to deduct $10,000 in property taxes. Corporations could deduct an unlimited amount of property taxes. And if a worker has to move because his employer relocates, those moving expenses are not deductible. But the corporation's moving costs are. In New York the richest 1% would receive $1,878,400,000 in tax breaks in 2018, if the proposed tax scam is passed. That's the equivalent of 306,928 health insurance premiums, 317,297 Pell Grants, or 17,807 infrastructure-related jobs in the state. $72,781,300,000 for the 1%. Co-sponsors include ACTion Buffalo, Citizen Action of WNY, Citizens Against Collins, CWA District 1, GLOW Progressives, Indivisible Niagara, Indivisible for the 27th, Puerto Rican Committee for Community Justice, Sister District for WNY, StandUp WNY, WNY Council on Occupational Safety and Health, WNY Peace Center, We The People, WNY Resistance Voters

Sun Parade, PizzaDoughnuts, Nothing Casual, Chevron Bloom
Mohawk Place – Monday, November 20. 8pm. $5. Grunge-soaked power-pop from Western Massachusetts Sun Parade PizzaDoughnuts Nothing Casual Chevron Bloom Chris Marlon Jennings grew up in Northampton, Massachusetts, busking on the streets. He met Jeff Lewis when they were high schoolers on summer vacation at a tribal gathering of old friends and families in Maine. Lewis, a mandolin player and islander, was due at Berklee College of Music on scholarship. After a semester in Boston, he moved to Western Mass to work with Jennings. That collaboration is the core of Sun Parade. Jennings writes by and large in the language of existential howl, wherein life, love and the pursuit of happiness are a highway pile-up with the distinct possibility of dancing. Lewis spins ethereal, psychedelic glowing pop benevolence, songs sung into an old Fostex recorder and sent out into the world in strands of metaphysic werewolves and sunshine. The dichotomy between the two writers builds an outliers’ love fest, a condition Oscar Wilde once described as living in the gutter with stardust falling on us. Over time Jennings and Lewis built the five-piece that is Sun Parade, with Karl Helander on drums, percussion, harmonies and ambient barking. Shuggy Mtn Breakdown is their latest release -- a sonic quest, a fully wrought statement, road-tested in basement shows and packed houses along Route 9 in the band's home turf. [Helander is a powerhouse ideas force — the riffing at the end of “Tear” and the astral vocal descents in “Braindrain” were a couple of his contributions to the album.] Max Wareham (bass) and Eli Salus-Kleiner (keyboard) joined Sun Parade after Shuggy Mtn Breakdown was recorded. Recorded in a one room studio on the 4th floor of an old industrial building somewhere in Brooklyn, Shuggy Mtn Breakdown is frenetic and well-cured, heart-hammering, smiley, full of woody tones and iron bones. It's is a freak-out explosion of weirdo power pop and heavy hippy grunge, soul music and rock'n'roll. It's a band on a precipice. Sun Parade's personal obsessions and projects range from British folk ballads to Motown; collectively their music is most influenced by the mutineers’ pantheon — The Clash, Beastie Boys, Dr. Dog, Nirvana, The Beatles. Sun Parade has supported Lake Street Dive, Dr. Dog, Born Ruffians, and And The Kids. National Public Radio picked “Heart’s Out” — the title track of the band’s previous EP — for Songs We Love, and wrote that Sun Parade is “crafting the kinds of traditional guitar-pop songs that people might still be singing 50 years down the road.” “A hook line and sinker winner of ragged mischief and melody. Like Dr. Dog, Delta Spirit and Islands, Sun Parade offers a candid approach to music that makes them endearing.” - Glide Magazine ?“Hailing from western Massachusetts, The Sun Parade offers up a psychedelic folk rock record perfect for summer cruising on the road.” - Culture Collide ? Check them out in their official video for "Cheer Up" from Shuggy Mtn Breakdown : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73dr9UTC2ao
