Woofstock Dog Walk at Chickstock
Humane Educational Society – Join The Humane Educational Society and The Douglas Fund for Woofstock during Chickstock on Saturday, September 23rd! Woofstock is a fundraising dog walk through beautiful Greenway Farms. All registrants will receive an event t-shirt and participate in a group dog walk to benefit homeless animals at HES and sick or injured animals through The Douglas Fund. Guests can also enjoy vendors, a dog kissing booth, paw painting with your pet, face painting, and bobbing for balls, before and after the walk. Stick around for the main event Chickstock and you’re sure to have a fun filled day! ChickStock is a free family friendly day of music in the park, celebrating the beauty and open space of Greenway Farms and the conservation efforts that protect the North Chickamauga Creek watershed. Registration for the walk begins at 10am and the walk will begin at 11 am sharp. Chickstock will begin their festivities following the dog walk and music will begin at 1 pm. Don’t miss out on a beautiful day in nature with your favorite four legged friend!

Bottomless Mimosa Fall Brunch
The Walden Club – Fall is upon us! Let's kickoff the most wonderful season of the year with a brunch so delicious that you'll be thinking it about for the rest of the year. 2017 Buddy Walk
Chattanooga Down Syndrome Society – Chattanooga Down Syndrome Society’s 2017 Buddy Walk Event will begin at 10:00 am at the AT&T Park on September 23. We are so excited to welcome the Imagination Movers, a high-energy children's band to get everyone moving! Again this year, individuals with Down syndrome will participate in a Buddy Strut so that attendees can honor them individually. Local police officers and celebrities will escort them down a short runway, while families gather in a tailgate-style celebration to network, have fun, and raise awareness. NEW THIS YEAR, a job fair for teens and adults with DS, matching willing employers to those looking for a meaningful job. Resources on best practices will also be offered for employers. **bring your camp chairs, tents, and blankets for activities on the field once again!

Flying Flowers: Monarch Tagging Day
Tennessee Aquarium – Monarchs will be on their way to Mexico and coming back through our area in September. Make the most of this event with a trip to Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Saturday, September 23 Tennessee Aquarium lead horticulturist Christine Hunt, steward of our butterfly garden, will be joined by well-known local naturalist and outdoor educator Wanda DeWaard on this day trip that’s sure to be fun for the whole family! You’ll be equipped with butterfly nets and registered materials to tag these winged-marvels. Please note: this activity involves walking through fields and off trail so sturdy footwear or hiking boots, long pants and appropriate sun protection are recommended. Also bring plenty of water or drink and snacks or lunch and lawn chairs or a blanket for sitting.

Please join us for a wonderful experience of yoga in the woods. It's so quiet and peaceful there, so much more than just outdoor yoga. It's yoga in nature. Bring your own mat, and since we are outside, sunblock and bug repellant might be in order. Class starts at 10:00am, but it takes a few minutes to get from the park entrance to Picnic area #3. So arrive at the park about 10 min early. Coming into the park you pass the nature center on your right, continue straight and take your first right (Still Hollow Loop). Wild Yeast, Wild Plants
Crabtree Farms of Chattanooga – Do you want to forage wild plants and learn how to ferment them at the same workshop? Well! At Wild Plants, Wild Yeast, Lindsay and Pete will expound on both foraging as well as how to ferment what you forage into sodas and wild yeast alcohol. The first part of the class is a foraging walk. The second part of the class is fermenting what you've gathered on that walk. Children are welcome as well as those who do not drink alcohol, as principles are similar for soda making. Please be prepared for all weather. If you are seeking ***Although you will learn how to ferment what you forage into wild yeast alcohol, no alcohol will be created or consumed at the event. Additionally, Harvests Roots does not make or sell alcohol.*** About the Facilitators: Pete Halupka and Lindsay Whiteaker are the artisan fermenters behind Harvest Roots Ferments. Founded in 2012, Harvest Roots Ferments produces a line of innovative kombucha and fermented vegetables sold across a wide range in the South at small shops as well as locales like Whole Foods. With an emphasis on using 98% local, sustainably grown produce, Pete and Lindsay focus on innovation in their recipes as well as the cultural and health benefits of fermented foods. Taylor Talk: Canoe Trip
Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center – The gentle current and lush riverbanks of Lookout Creek offer observant guests a chance to see herons, hawks, and more. Join Naturalist Taylor for a leisurely float in our backyard blueway. If you're planning ahead, bring a snack or lunch to enjoy during the group's break in a lily pad cove. Please bring water and wear clothes that can withstand some water. ***Canoe sign-ups open at 11:45 am on Saturday, September 23rd. Come to the front desk that day to reserve your spot! Autumn Equinox Celebration (Fall Fest)
Rolling J's Mobile Bistro – Nothing is unending, not even our build out. We just have to be gracious enough to see it through. (Thanks, Epicurus!) And that's what we're gonna do! Rather than lament the slowness of it AND because fall is our favorite season, we'll celebrate the fall equinox. OK, the equinox is the day before but we're partying on Saturday. WHEN: Saturday, Sept 23 TIME: 3 pm till 8 pm WEATHER: Forecast calls for AWESOME! WHERE: 607 East Main St (corner of Park & Main) (parking lot at Merchants on Main) FOOD: Chatter Box Cafe will be slinging pork Rolling J's Mobile Bistro will be grilling in the lot WHAT: Cornhole Tournament (casual) $10 per person ($20/team) 8 team limit; join early! 1st Place: Heaven & Ale snifters & t-shirts 2nd Place: Heaven & Ale pint glasses (All cornhole tourny proceeds go to Humane Educational Society to support their animal rescue efforts in Texas and Florida. Barnard Astronomical Society of Chattanooga – Star Party at Cloudland Canyon State Park. Sponsored by the Staff and Friends of Cloudland Canyon State Park and conducted by the Barnard Astronomical Society. Come see the wonders of the night sky through our telescopes. We will also be looking at and identifying the Constellations of Summer. As always we will also be observing DSO's(Deep Sky Objects) like star clusters, nebulae and other galaxies like our own Milky Way. At the starting point to the Disc Golf Course, 8 PM to 11 PM. Astronomy programs are FREE to all. Usual parking fee at the park applies.
