Adulting Summer Camp: S'more Money, S'more Problems
The Chattery – Telling scary stories around the campfire while roasting marshmallows is a summer camp tradition. Join us as we continue that tradition with a campfire-themed chat all about MONEY. Don’t be afraid though - we’re not telling scary money stories. Instead, we’re trading the ghost stories for money lessons every adult should know. You’ll learn from experts on how keep your money and even better, how to grow it. We’ll even dive into retirement and estate planning. Other campfire topics: Building credit Deciding on big ticket items (like cars and houses) When to hire a financial planner Let’s gather around the fire (don’t worry, it’s not a real fire) and have an adult conversation about finances. Campfire-themed snacks will be served, obviously. About the teachers: Jennifer Harper, CFP is the Founder and Director of Bridge Financial Planning, LLC providing fee-only financial planning and investing for today's professionals. She's worked with a wide variety of clients, from young professionals looking for a 'smart start', to muti-generational high net worth families. While financial planning can be complex, it doesn't have to be intimidating or overwhelming! Amanda Jelks has been practicing law in Tennessee for the past 7 years. Her practice focuses on helping families and business owners sleep better at night by knowing that their affairs are in order and they are legally protected. After spending the first five years of her career with one of the areas largest law firms, Amanda put it all on the line and started Jelks Law. In addition to operating Jelks Law, Amanda serves as the CEO of Women's Law Collective which is a collaboration between 4 female-owned law firms to provide services and support to women and men who support women.

Adulting Summer Camp: Cook It, Cook It Real Good
The Chattery – Adulting in the kitchen isn’t just organizing takeout menus (even though that’s impressive). It’s knowing the basics of cooking like boiling an egg, chopping an onion (yes, there’s a correct way) and most importantly, how to read a recipe. In this demo style class, our cooking instructor will show you everything you need to know to survive in the kitchen - and then some. And because we’re adults, BYOW (that’s wine, folks). About the teacher: Amanda Varnell is owner, operator & primary cooking instructor at DishT’Pass and is known by many as a “Dinner Table Specialist.” Founding CookingLIVE in 2006, she has been teaching cooking classes in the Greater Chattanooga area and speaking on the topic of the dinner table professionally for over 11 years. As a mom to Jack, Luke, Sophia and Sam, she has also logged thousands of hours in her own kitchen.

Noontunes: Seaux Chill
River City Company – Nabil Ince, stage name Seaux Chill, is an artist originally from Columbia, MD who has been in the Chattanooga area for the past few years. Piano is his first love, playing since he was 6 years old. However, Nabil also loves producing music, composing melodies, and writing poetry/hip-hop. He is currently working on his undergrad in music at Covenant College and functioning as the Assistant Program Director for a children’s music ed non-profit called East Lake Expression Engine. Noontunes is a weekly, mid-day music performance in Miller Plaza. This series will showcase local talent and offer a platform for artists to be seen and heard every Wednesday in May, June and July from noon-1pm. Each performance will be open to the general public free of charge, live streamed by on CityStream Powered by EPB Fiber Optics and recorded and aired later on WUTC. Adulting Summer Camp: Let's Talk About Stress, Baby
The Chattery – Adulting is stressful sometimes, right? Whether it’s work stress or relationship drama, you can learn how to better respond to these situations at our stress relieving luau! In this FREE class, you’ll learn a number of techniques that you can implement at home or in the workplace. We’ll end the session with a stress reliever in the form of meditation, which can help decrease anxiety. Let’s relax, get lei’d and live our best (stress-free) lives. About the teachers: Sabrina Butcher is a Positive Discipline Encouragement Consultant and started her own executive coach/consulting business (LUCY) where she teaches leaders about the elimination of process waste (Lean) while coaching them through the uncomfortable places like fear and stress. We all have a story; Sabrina’s started in her dad's auto repair garage in small town Indiana. Growing up, she was always the curious one, wanting to know "WHY" often. Sabrina has worked in many challenging leadership positions within the automotive industry (both repair and manufacturing) along with the railroad and agriculture industries. Sabrina has a degree in Automotive Technology, a BS in Mathematics and a Master of Engineering. She holds a Black Belt in 6 sigma and spends most of her time teaching skilled workers, middle and executive level management how to solve complex problems for the work that they do. When Sabrina is not helping others get curious about their behaviors, she enjoys her 97 year old bungalow in Chattanooga, TN, hiking, teaching, traveling, reading, yoga, teaching welding classes and learning anything new. Upasaka Upali, also know as Paul, is a community organizer and organic farmer who became interested in meditation along the way. He has studied meditation for eight years in a tradition that draws from ancient Buddhist methods and incorporates modern cognitive science. He has taught meditation to diverse audiences, from international online forums to prison sanghas. Most recently he has been focusing his energy on teaching mindfulness to elementary students in underserved communities of Chattanooga.
