Vegan Dine to Donate for Old Dogs
The Sanctuary for Senior Dogs – Print the flyer in the event picture and enjoy a delicious vegan meal at Johnny Mango; a portion of your bill will be donated to support our work with senior dogs. It's a win/win that you won't want to miss. People always ask why our fundraisers are vegan. The Sanctuary does not believe in serving animals in order to save them, so all of our fundraisers feature vegan meals. You don't have to be vegan to enjoy a delicious vegan meal for old dogs at Johnny Mango on November 20.

ABOUT THE SHOW: Winner of four Tony Awards including Best Original Score, Elton John’s Aida tells of Egypt and Nubia, two Nile jewels rich with culture, wisdom, and wealth which are tarnished by the ugliness of war when the Egyptians conquer Nubia and take its citizens as slaves. Nubian princess Aida, stolen from her country, is torn between her love of her people, and a new love within arms that once were threatening. Is there a greater power than fear, hate, greed and war – something to unite these nations and preserve the unique beauty of both, and heal the hearts and minds that live in them? Today in 2017, our streets are still battlegrounds for diverse groups of people, struggling to be heard, to know justice and equality, to be recognized as fully American… to matter. Aida reminds us of the timeless nature of this struggle, and points to the heart as the place where all healing begins. With an unforgettable score featuring soaring ballads and rousing choral numbers by Elton John and Tim Rice (Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), Aida is a modern crowd-pleaser – an epic tale of loyalty, pride, betrayal, and the love that transcends them all. Book by Linda Woolverton, Robert Falls & David Henry Hwang Music by Elton John & Lyrics by Tim Rice Aida will be Directed by Kelcie Dugger

OSS: Is the evolution of perception computational?
Institute for the Science of Origins – Part 2 of OSS's Mind-Body Connection series presented in collaboration with CWRU’s Emeriti Academy features Prof. Michael Lewicki, Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering, CWRU and Ken Loparo, Professor of Engineering and Chairman, CWRU. The brain's interpretation of sensory info results in representation and understanding of the environment. Perception isn't passive, it’s shaped by learning, memory, expectation, and attention. It's evolution is the subject of considerable controversy. Can theories of optimality explain the codes biological systems use? Dr. Lewicki will argue that computational principles explain how neural codes are optimally adapted to their sensory environment. Further, it is possible to extend these theories to provide functional theories for higher-level aspects of perception. Dinner and Lecture tickets available: Lifelong Learning Members: $172 for full series; $40 per lecture | Nonmembers: $195 for full series; $48 per lecture. https://www.lifelonglearningcleveland.org/dev_students.asp?action=coursedetail&id=7572&main&sub1&misc=847&courseinternalaccesscode&coursetype=0

Praised by the Boston Globe as “superb”, the dynamic bass clarinet/marimba duo Transient Canvas (Amy Advocat, bass clarinet & Matt Sharrock, marimba) has been blazing their own trail in the world of contemporary music since 2011. In that time, they have premiered over 75 new works, essentially creating an entirely new repertoire for their unique instrumentation. Fearless in their programming and hungry for new collaborations TC performs anywhere from microbreweries to concert halls and actively seeks out new composers who will stretch their instrumentation to its limits. Dedicated to spreading their repertoire, Transient Canvas has performed across the United States and Europe. Transient Canvas proudly endorses Selmer clarinets and Marimba One marimbas and mallets. Cherry Donut Pie Can Release
Platform Beer Co. – November 22 marks the release party of our newest Taproom Exclusive Canned Beer. We worked with our friends at Brewnuts to collaborate on Cherry Donut Pie; a Pastry approach to one of our favorite styles. This Gose skirts a balance between sweetness and tart. Flavors of sweet cherry and pie crust with a mild salinity compliment a brite tartness, luscious cherry filling and biscuity, doughy nose. 16 oz Cans will be available for sales to-go in 4 packs for $12.99 and draft will be tapped during a special early opening. Brewnuts will be onsite serving up fresh "dones" as they so affectionately refer to them. This is part of a monthly very limited release in cans and packaged beer will not likely last very long.
