Last Chance to View Birds in Art
Art Museum of South Texas – Celebrate our community’s spirit, strength, and resiliency by viewing Birds in Art, the exhibition widely considered the “gold standard” for avian art, on display September 29-November 19 at the Art Museum of South Texas (AMST) located at 1902 N. Shoreline Blvd. Corpus Christi, Texas 78401. When Hurricane Harvey waylaid Rockport Center for the Arts’ plans to host world-renowned Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum’s annual Birds in Art exhibition, AMST offered one of its galleries as a new venue for the highly anticipated exhibition. Birds in Art celebrates the timeless appeal of birds through fresh and contemporary artistic interpretations. This traveling show is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for people in Texas to experience the finest avian art being produced at an international level, including art by three Texas artists including Kent Ullberg (Corpus Christi), Jim Offeman (Missouri City) and Debbie Stevens (Cypress). The creative partnership between the AMST and the Rockport Center for the Arts exemplifies the healing power of art. The exhibition is open during regular museum hours, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, and 1-5-p.m. Sunday, closed Mondays. Admission is free to museum members and TAMU-CC students with valid ID. General admission fees are adults $8, free to children 12 and under, seniors (65+) $6. For more information call (361) 825-3500 or email art.museum@tamucc.edu.

Winter is Coming to All Hands on Deck
Corpus Christi Downtown Farmers' Market – It is? Well..kinda... Remember in 2016 when it was in the windy 40s in Early December for 2 days... Remember in January 2017 after the hottest winter memorable we had the hardest freeze we have seen in 10 years? Well yes even though our seasons are different than the north we do still have to prepare for frost nips at those soft leafed plants and do anything we can to prepare the roots of our trees just in case that hard freeze sets in and hits our young fruit trees just a little too hard! So we will be talking about things you can do to make it easy on yourself when those temps drop real fast for that second of cold in our South Texas Winter.
