National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week Kickoff
UTA Health Services – Campus resources will provide information about health risks associated with alcohol and drugs. Students can participate in interactive games demonstrating the dangerous effects of driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. Giveaways and free refreshments will also be available.

Spring Creek Spirit Night
The Woods United Methodist Church – SPRING CREEK SPIRIT NIGHT Don’t forget to mark your calendars for January 22, 2018 to take your friends and family to dinner at Spring Creek Barbecue between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The Woods United Methodist Church will get a percentage of the sales for the evening for each person who identifies themselves as being associated with the church. If we get enough folks to go there and eat, we will get a percentage of the entire evenings proceeds. So invite your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers any one you can think of to go and eat dinner. Just make sure they tell them when they enter the restaurant they are there to support The Woods. Kinesiology Taping for Manual Therapists
Uptown Myotherapy – This course introduces the concept of kinesiology taping with the focus on the utilization of this technique in the manual therapist’s practice. It includes the review of current research and literature about the effects and results of elastic taping. It will discuss the specific applications for rehabilitation, edema management, nerve entrapment, scar mobility and postural management. This class is a research based kinesiology taping course that changes our understanding of the effects of elastic taping on pain mitigation, circulation and proprioception. It demonstrates specific application for the manual therapist and techniques to further results with staying in the scope of practice. The anatomy and physiology of fascial lines is discussed. It demonstrates taping methods for these structures with the inclusion of manual techniques to combine results. It introduces sport and movement specific taping patterns. This course is all hands-on and specific to manual therapists including safe and functional methods to combine techniques and implement taping in the practice. Objectives: -Discuss technical and general information about elastic taping -Discuss the physiological effects and results of kinesiology taping -Discuss the application guidelines and tips -Demonstrate basic and advanced taping methods -Demonstrate pain, edema, posture and scar taping -Demonstrate nerve entrapment applications -Discuss and demonstrate the difference between taping muscles vs. taping movement -Demonstrate sport specific applications -Demonstrate techniques to further results -Discuss the possibility and specifics to include this technique in the manual therapists practice
