Rep. Kelly: We need a #DreamActNow!
PPWP--Planned Parenthood of Western PA – Join the Benedictines for Peace, Planned Parenthood and Erie United to urge Representative Mike Kelly to pass a #DreamActNOW! Last week Congress failed to pass comprehensive immigration reform. Again! This leaves nearly 1 million DACA recipients across the country, including almost 6,000 recipients right here in PA, with terrifying uncertainty regarding their futures. With DACA's March 5th expiration date quickly approaching, we need Congress to act NOW! The good news is Congress is on recess! Rep. Kelly will be attending an event for the Manufacturer & Business Association on Friday. If Kelly can make time to meet with businesses, he must also make time to protect Dreamers. Dreamers do their jobs each and every single day—in their communities, in their workplaces, and in their schools. It’s time for Congress to do theirs. We are just days away from the deadline so this is our last opportunity to demand Kelly pass a #DreamActNOW! Registration for the event starts at 11:45am, so we'll be starting the protest at 11:15am. Meet at the corner of West 38th & Pittsburgh Avenue.

Fringe Fest Erie 2018: Mr Burns, A Post-Electric Play
Gannon University's Schuster Theatre – Dramashop's second associate production for Fringe Fest Erie 2018 is MR BURNS, A POST-ELECTRIC PLAY by Anne Washburn. Washburn’s imaginative, dark comedy propels us forward nearly a century, following a new civilization stumbling into its future. After the collapse of civilization, a group of survivors share a campfire and begin to piece together the plot of “The Simpsons” episode “Cape Feare” entirely from memory. 7 years later, this and other snippets of pop culture (sitcom plots, commercials, jingles, and pop songs) have become the live entertainment of post-apocalyptic society, sincerely trying to hold onto its past. 75 years later, these are the myths and legends from which new forms of performance are created. A paean to live theater, and the resilience of Bart Simpson through the ages, Mr. Burns is an animated exploration of how the pop culture of one era might evole into the mythology of another.” Fringe Fest Erie Performances are Feb 23 & 24 at 8pm. Admission for these two performances is $5. Reservations can be made by going to www.dramashop.org. Donations will be collected to support our students who will travel to participate in the 2020 International Collegiate Theatre Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland.
