First Metaphysical Church – Mabon is the celebration of the Autumal Equinox. This year it falls on September 22, at 4:02pm when the sun enters Libra. Mabos is also the second, and most fruitful, of the three harvest festivals. Other names for Mabon are the Wine Harvest, the Feast of Avalon, and Alben Elfred to the Scots. Offerings of Ciders, wines and herbs are appropriate at the time. Wiccans celebrate the aging Goddess as she passes from Mother to Crone. As light and darkness are equal on this day,it is a good time to reflect on bringing back into balance all the areas of your life; spiritual, financial, emotional, and physical. Examine the activities of the past year and see what needs to be brought back into harmony with all the otherareas of your life. Mabon is a time of equilibrium and reflection. At this time we begin looking inward, preparing ourselves for the winter to come. The spring and summer have been open, flowering, productive times of the year. At Mabon, we see this part of the cycle ending. We have labored and earned our reward, as well as our rest. As we spend more and more time indoors, we are given to further introspection and planning for the cold, winter months ahead. Join us in celebrating this wonderful, bounteous time as we look forward to the beauty of Autumn.
