Diving deep into the shoulder girdle & directly experiencing the relationships of tissues in the most repetitive movements in modern day yoga. This workshop changes everything; it is a crash course in experiencing how to set yourself up for a lifelong sustainable arm balance practice; by understanding how to avoid repetitive use injuries & acquiring tools for healing existing injuries. Mysore Self practice; moving and breathing at your own pace; this is where the rubber meets the road. In here, there is no right or wrong sequence; complete & total open format; all traditions are welcome. From the super advanced to the total beginner, Bryce will be working individually to help you work through any obstacle in your practice; physical, postural, breath/energy, emotional, spiritual etc; he will be here to help you create a customized practice for your needs. Heal the Hips: Exploring how to open, stretch, strengthen, stabilize & heal the muscles that make up the hip socket & the upper legs. Want to open your hips? Do you have tight hamstrings? Do you have injuries in your legs? Do you feel tension & limited range of movement? Are your hips in pain? This workshop will help you understand your body & empower you with tools to gradually heal your hips. Foundations for Floating: In this workshop, we will be exploring the fundamental muscles, movements & practices that prepare us for creating a sustainable practice, in which "Floating" gradually happens. What is "Floating" in Yoga? Graceful movements that seem to defy the laws of gravity. This is most associated with advanced practitioners whose movements appear effortless. This level of practice does not happen over night, that is why we will be laying the foundation for this to become possible over time. Much of this workshop will be focused on building core strength - from the deepest layers of tissues to the most superficial. Private Sessions can be arranged with Bryce for the duration of his stay. Yoga for Trauma & Anxiety
Seva Yoga Studios – Everyone has experienced some type of trauma or anxiety and, while we may or may not be aware of it, it affects our abilities to feel safe, to feel grounded, to be present, and to self-regulate. Research shows the benefits of yoga for those struggling with trauma symptoms whether those symptoms are perceived or not. A trauma informed yoga practice gives the practitioner the opportunity to notice and care for the areas of the body that hold tension and are affected by unhealthy mental, emotional, and behavioral patterns – it brings us in touch with sensations and how those sensations affect our emotions. If you suffer from trauma, yoga and breath can promote healing. If you are not sure if you experienced trauma, this will provide you with a safe place to ask, explore, and learn. Join Ada Floyd, LAC, CRC, for a discussion on trauma and anxiety: what it is, how it feels, and how it impacts our lives. Then Taylor Henry, E-RYT, MAFP, CCDP-D, will lead a trauma informed yoga session to map the body and explore how we experience and react to stress. We will finish with a discussion on taking these techniques off the mat for use at any time. Saturday, February 17, 2018. $30
