Small Business Workshop: Video Marketing
Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce – What if there was a way to market your company that was 600% more effective than print and direct mail combined? By next year, it’s estimated that 80% of all Internet traffic will be devoted to video content, and your business needs to compete for air time. Forget the film crews and TV commercial budgets—you need “hacks” that you can implement today. With a smart phone and a few simple tools and tricks, you can reach the right customers to increase leads and sales. Join the Loudoun Chamber’s Small Business Committee for a hands-on discussion about video marketing and how you can take your business from zero to 60 without breaking your budget. This workshop will teach techniques for shooting, editing and posting engaging video for social media. The workshop will be led by Brian Tinsman, Digital Properties Manager for Loudoun County Economic Development, who has worked with professional sports teams, major media corporations, international nonprofits and local small businesses to better leverage digital media. Attendees of this workshop will receive the most benefit if their business has a website and social media presence, as well as a basic understanding of smart phones. Participants are encouraged to bring their phones and an idea of their ideal business customer. *****This event is being held at Enterprise Hall, at the GW Virginia Science & Technology Campus in Ashburn.

Anti Offshore Oil Drilling Hearing and Happy Hour!
Sierra Club DC Chapter – The Trump Administration proposes to drill for oil and gas off the East Coast, and is hosting an open house about their plan in Washington, DC. We'll be there to submit our comment: NO to offshore drilling. Head to the Administration's (BOEM) offshore oil drilling open house anytime from 3-7PM at the Hilton Garden Inn (1225 First Street NE, Washington, DC 20002). After you have made your comment, join us for an ocean happy hour at Wonder Garten Bar just down the street--you'll need a drink after speaking with BOEM! We need volunteers to hand out information outside the hearing! If you'd like to get involved, email rachel.mandelbaum@sierraclub.org. For more background information: The Trump Administration’s Department of the Interior has proposed opening 90% of America's coasts to offshore drilling -- from Maine to the Gulf, and from Alaska down to Southern California. If Trump's plan becomes reality, spills will be inevitable -- and devastating. In 2010, the Deepwater Horizon oil spill damaged 1,313 miles of coastline. That's more than the entire length of California, or half the Atlantic coast. Offshore oil spills happen frequently, devastating marine environments, commercial fishing industries, and tourism businesses. Even without spills, offshore oil causes pollution. We need to show this administration how deeply unpopular their drilling scheme is. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is holding hearings in coastal states throughout the winter: https://www.boem.gov/National-Program-Participate/#meeting
