This event has no cover. The show will start at 8 on the dot but get here early as it will pack in early. As this is a LIVE one take recording we ask you to PLEASE refrain from talking during the show. Laugh, hollar, clap, just no table chatter. We thank you. Lineup: Patrick Cunningham (host) Matthew C. Tate (feature) John Gibson (feature) J.c. Ratliff (asshole that thinks he should record his own voice) Open mic will follow the show. "Maggie Meyers is my favorite place to do comedy without a doubt. Of course I'm recording there. It'll be crazy. We just gotta remind me people to mess me with AFTER I get off stage." JC Ratliff is a Knoxville TN based comedian and producer of comedy shows. His comedy combines social commentary and rapid-fire vitriolic rants, re-branding the solemn as absurd along the way. A mix of half recovering punk rocker making fun of the world he sees and half new father with a love of storytelling, the result creates a unique blend of unpredictable shows. JC has toured extensively throughout the the last 5 years, first beside Matt Ward and Grady Ray in the 2012 Quit Your Day Job Comedy Tour and then for the last few years as a founding member of The Deadbeats of Comedy (a comedy collective of likeminded comedians). An avid podcaster for many years, he is the co-host of The Bone’s Lair Comedy Podcast. JC’s producer credits include Spike Collar Comedy, Old City Comedy, and the 2015 Old City Comedy Competition. He has performed at the Scruffy City Comedy Festivals from 2014-2016, BLANKfest 2015 and 2016, What A Joke Festival 2017, Altercation Punk Comedy Festival 2016, and the Cola Comedy Convention 2017. JC has opened for comics such as Doug Stanhope, Corey Ryan Forrester, Derek Sheen, Tim Northern, Ahmed Bharoocha, Carlos Valencia, Ryan Singer, Krish Mohan, Shane Mauss, Andrew Andrist, and Junior Stopka. He was named “Knoxville’s Finest Comedian” 2015 and 2016 by BLANK Magazine. His debut album Hope Is A Virus is currently available on iTunes. JC is currently a part of the 2017 Quit Your Day Job Comedy Tour this fall alongside John Gibson preparing to record his second album. Twitter: @JCRatliffComedy Instagram: @knoxnihilist John Gibson: Originally born in Ohio, this transplanted southerner is a natural storyteller. From growing up with his crazy family and his years spent working behind a bar, to his hilarious observations about late night TV and Adventures in Drinking til all hours of the morning, John will captivate you by bringing you into his world. He has toured all over the U.S. with multiple comedians including Carlos Valencia. He was Nominated as Best Local Comedian in 2015 & 2017 and recently was a part of the Broken Record Comedy Show in Nashville, TN. John has featured at the What A Joke Comedy Festival in Knoxville and is the creator of Comedy is a Drag: A Stand Up Comedy Drag Show. He recently recorded his debut album Cis White Tales, available on iTunes and Spotify. John has opened or featured for comedians such as Doug Stanhope, Tony Hinchcliffe, MYQ Kaplan, Dave Stone, Joe Zimmerman, Shane Mauss Ben Kronberg and more. Always striving for more, John has the dream of one day taking over hosting duties on The Tonight Show (a desire he's had since he was five). Check him out next time he is in a city near you. Matthew Tate: Eh...you guys have probably heard of him. Matthew Tate is the producer of TGIM Comedy, and is recently off of his "A Panda Named Todd" tour, in promotion of his album "I Drink, Therefore I Am", which was also recorded at Maggie Meyers Irish Pub. Matthew has hosted such talent as Ian Harris, Kristine Levine, Carlos Valencia and Tim Northern in his 5 year tenure as a show runner, and has worked various comedy clubs, bars and theaters across the southeast and midwest.

Open Mic - Sponsored by Piper & Leaf and Tangled String Studios!
Tangled String Studios – Piper & Leaf and Tangled String Studios are working to foster young, local music talent (20-something and younger.) Kick back and enjoy the low-pressure atmosphere. Grab this awesome opportunity perform in a public venue using high end gear with no pressure. Instead of a traditional cover charge, grab a Piper & Leaf drink then head over to Tangled Strings to perform or listen. We will host Open Mic on the third Tuesday of each month. The next one is on November 21st, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Tangled String Studios is a premium performance venue used by professional music artists. The studio quality sound equipment will be set up for use. There is a piano and guitar on site. If you know a young, aspiring artist, invite them to share their talent. Or participate; take the stage! Note: This is for people looking to perform. Please bring prepared works. Offensive language will not be tolerated! ---------------------------------------- What about 'older' musicians? They are important too! Come listen and support the young artists. We are hoping to develop and foster the young ones through this initiative. ('Young' meaning roughly 20 somethings and younger). There are not a lot of venues that allow new artists to perform in a professional atmosphere. We may open it up if there is enough demand from the...ahem...'wiser' musicians.
