The Wizard Of Oz Movie Party
Alamo Drafthouse Lubbock – Routinely referenced on countless lists as one of the greatest things ever put to celluloid, THE WIZARD OF OZ isn't great because it was an achievement for its time--it's great because it is a wholly inescapable whirlwind of excellence. It's the movie kids beg to see over and over again and the film adults routinely need to revisit just to remind them just how magical a movie can be. Dorothy is a young farm girl in rural Kansas living with her aunt and uncle. After a dust-up between Dorothy's trusty dog Toto and the evil Miss Gulch, the sheriff orders the canine be destroyed. Dorothy flees and, in her escape, finds herself caught up in a tornado that whisks her away to the mystical land of Oz, where music, munchkins, lions and tigers and bears (oh my!) await her. You know the story. Now, follow your own Yellow Brick road and come live the magic with us at this “Movie Party” presentation ribbon wands, bubbles, preshow games and more. Ruby slippers very much encouraged.

Blood and Black Lace
Alamo Drafthouse Lubbock – The Cristiana Haute Couture fashion house is a home to models… and backstabbing… and blackmail… and drug deals… and MURDER. Having established a template for the giallo with THE GIRL WHO KNEW TOO MUCH, Mario Bava set about cementing its rules with BLOOD AND BLACK LACE. In doing so he created one of the most influential films ever made – an Italian classic that would spearhead the giallo genre, provide a prototype for the slasher movie, and have a huge effect on filmmakers as diverse as Dario Argento and Martin Scorsese. Newly restored from the original camera negative and presented here in its original, uncut Italian form, this screening will allow fans to see BLOOD AND BLACK LACE afresh and offers newcomers the ideal introduction to a major piece of cult filmmaking.
