Doors Open Milwaukee at Milwaukee County Greenhouses
Historic Milwaukee, Inc. – See our amazing Greenhouses at Doors Open Milwaukee 2017! Take a behind the scenes tour of the newly built County Greenhouses and see first-hand how these state of the art computerized systems manage and monitor the growing of the plant crops for the Conservatory. Energy efficient, grey water reuse, and timed programs all help to produce consistent size and quality of our plant inventories. The new County Greenhouses were constructed 2013-2015 and designed by architects Kubala and Washatko. Horticulturists will be on hand to answer questions and to talk with visitors about the systems and crop growing that take place in the Greenhouses to support the collections and shows at the Conservatory. and explain this amazing addition to the Mitchell Park Domes. This is the first time the Greenhouses, an amazing addition to the Mitchell Park Domes, have been opened to the public! Food and beverages will also be available for sale on site. 49th Annual Cheery Cherry Fall Fair
Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin – Cheery Cherry Fall Fair 2017 will once again feature a wide array of arts, crafts, food and music. Proceeds will benefit the Cancer Care Center at Community Memorial Hospital. $4 (tax included) contribution at the gate Kids 12 and under are free. Milwaukee Brat House – The Milwaukee Brat House has successfully offered Packers shuttle and tailgate packages for four seasons! We're back at it again this year for the all home regular season games! We've recently purchased our tailgate location from previous years and have done to spectacular renovations and improvements to the tailgate accommodations to provide an even better experience! We will have a heated garage, full bar setup, and 5 mounted TV's with NFL Sunday ticket, so you can get all the action in during the tailgate! --- The Milwaukee Brat House is offering a shuttle/tailgate package on September 24th to Lambeau Field. The details for this event are as follows... Packers vs. Bengals Kickoff - 3:25pm Brat House Doors Open: 10am Shuttle Details: Shuttle Departure Time to Green Bay: 10:55am Approximate Trip Time: 1hr 45min - 2hrs All you can drink beer and soft drinks on the ride to Lambeau. Again this year, the Brat House is parking our Brewers shuttles and renting luxury coach buses. The coach buses have on board bathrooms for a non-stop trip! Tailgate Details: -Tailgate location directly across the street from Kroll's West -All you can drink select liquor, beer, and soft drinks at the tailgate. -All you can eat tailgate food is prepared on arrival with more than enough to go around! Don't be afraid to ask for seconds! Shuttle Departure from Lambeau Field: 45min after the end of the game, sharp! --- Ask a server or bartender on the day of the event for check in. Doors Open Milwaukee: UWM Golda Meir Library
UWM Libraries – The UWM Libraries will join Doors Open Milwaukee on Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit three outstanding collections located in the UWM Golda Meir Library and view some of their rare and fascinating treasures. The internationally-renowned American Geographical Society Library, formed in the early 1850s to promote the collection and diffusion of geographical and statistical information, is one of the premier collections of its kind in North American, containing over 1.3 million items dating from 1452, including maps, atlases, globes, books, periodicals, and photographs. AGSL will have a variety of cartographic treasures from their collections on display. The UWM Archives features the history of the Milwaukee region. With 2017 marking the 50th anniversary of Milwaukee’s 200 consecutive nights of Fair Housing marches, the UWM Archives will highlight documents of the movement including the papers of James Groppi, Vel Phillips, and Lloyd Barbee. NOTE: The Archives will be open from 12 p.m to 5 p.m. Special Collections holds over 70,000 printed materials from the 15th century to the present, covering a wide range of disciplines and topics. During Doors Open Milwaukee they will offer a sampling, from early printed books to contemporary publications, and from fine press and artist’s books and to comic books and zines. Milwaukee Record Halftime Show with TAJ
Cactus Club – At the midway point of every game this regular season, Milwaukee Record will host a halftime show. The free concert series—sponsored by Good City Brewing and Belvedere Vodka—will rage on with a Week 3 show by TAJ at Cactus Club that will occur between the 2nd and 3rd quarters of the Green Bay-Cincinnatti game. Good City will have pints of Risk on special for $4, Risk beermosas for $4, and Belvedere Bloody Marys will be $8. Come early to watch the first half and stay late to see the end of the game. This is a 21+ event. A DJ will spin before the game, after the game, and during commercial breaks.
