Help Us Welcome Funkwerks to Missouri
Flying Saucer Kansas City – Have you heard? There's a new brewery being offered in town, and we think they are pretty great! Funkwerks is a brewery based out of Fort Collins, Colorado that was opened by Gordon Schuck and Brad Lincoln in December of 2010. The two met at Siebel Institute of Technology while studying Brewing Science and decided to combine their talents and open a Saison-focused brewery. When Funkwerks isn't busy brewing amazing Saisons, they are experimenting with Belgian styles, sours and barrel-aged small batches. And now, we get to enjoy their offerings here in Missouri. Join us in welcoming Funkwerks on Wednesday the 17th at 6:00pm. We will be featuring their Apricot Provincial, as well as some other beers for you to try. Apricot Provincial is a Belgian-style sour brewed using a 24-hour warm souring technique that creates a refreshing apricot and citrus tartness. And since it's Glass Night, of course there will be some glasses for you. Buy a beer, get a glass, and meet some brewery reps!

The Metastatic Prostate Cancer Project is a research initiative designed for men with advanced and metastatic prostate cancer. Based at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard Medical School, the project seeks clinical and genomic data from affected men through a patient-driven study environment. Men with metastatic prostate cancer across the country can participate through a secure and confidential website comprised of a short survey, and an electronic consent form. Men who participate in the study will receive a saliva kit, which will be returned to the Broad Institute. The study team will request copies of pertinent medical records from the hospitals that provide care for each man’s prostate cancer. Men are also encouraged to elect to receive a blood kit and share a blood sample, as well as grant the study team access to archived tissue for further/future study and testing. Collected data is confidential and protected, trends are shared with patients, and anonymized data is made widely available to the research community to accelerate the development of new treatment strategies. The Barn Players Community Theatre – The Barn Players Present... THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME January 17-19 Kelly Fellowship Hall St. Pius X Church 5500 Woodson, Mission, KS 66202 Music by Alan Menken Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz Book by Peter Parnell Based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney film Originally developed by Disney Theatrical Productions Directed by Jason Coats Musical Direction by Todd Gregory-Gibbs Based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney animated feature, The Hunchback of Notre Dame showcases the film’s Academy Award-nominated score, as well as new songs by Menken and Schwartz. Peter Parnell’s new book embraces story theatre and features verbatim passages from Hugo’s gothic novel. The musical begins as the bells of Notre Dame sound through the famed cathedral in fifteenth-century Paris. Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer who longs to be "Out There," observes all of Paris reveling in the Feast of Fools. Held captive by his devious caretaker, the archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo, he escapes for the day and joins the boisterous crowd, only to be treated cruelly by all but the beautiful gypsy, Esmeralda. Quasimodo isn’t the only one captivated by her free spirit, though – the handsome Captain Phoebus and Frollo are equally enthralled. As the three vie for her attention, Frollo embarks on a mission to destroy the gypsies – and it’s up to Quasimodo to save them all.
