8th Annual Turkey Give-a-way
Heart of God Evangelistic Ministries – The HGC Development Corporation and Heart of God Evangelistic Ministries will sponsor its 8th Annual Turkey Give-a-Way and Pre-Thanksgiving Meal on Saturday, November 18, 2017. We invite you to join us for One Hour of "Thanksgiving Worship Service, from 9:30 - 10:30am, then, immediately following the one hour of worship service, we will also serve a delicious HOT Pre-Thanksgiving meal to those in the community in addition to distributing frozen turkeys to families in need living in the Kansas City/Raytown, Missouri area. Through the generous support of church members, organizations, and sponsors, HGC will distribute turkeys to families in need within the community. Building on the momentum of the previous years, we are endeavoring to be of a blessing to help families in need celebrate Thanksgiving. The distribution of the turkeys will help defray the cost of a Thanksgiving meal. It will also allow families to prepare and serve their own meals during the Thanksgiving holiday. HGC Development Corporation and Heart of God Evangelistic Ministries appreciates the local businesses that have donated money, equipment, time, and resources to assist us with meeting the needs of our community. With equal gratitude, HGC Develpment Corporation and Heart of God Evangelistic Ministries Thanks all volunteers who will help in the distribution of the turkeys on Saturday, November 18, 2017. Thanksgiving Prayer: Along with each turkey distributed, a personal prayer of “Thanksgiving” will be offered to each recipient/family along with other beneficial information. History of the Effort: The Turkey Give-a-Way program began in 2010 with a vision to feed the less fortunate within the community. Through the vision of a local businessman, James Andrews of J&A Enterprise, who is a supporter of HGC Development Corporation and Heart of God Evangelistic Ministries, a partnership was formed to work together to serve families in our community in a real and tangible way. On November 10, 2010, the first Turkey Give-a-Way was launched with the support of business sponsorships. Our goal was to provide families in need with an opportunity to enjoy an intimate Thanksgiving meal at home rather than seeking a meal at a soup kitchen. Our church members, volunteers, and sponsors who support this effort are motivated to help their neighbors and make a difference in the community. We are always profoundly impressed by the gratitude of the many individuals who have received the Thanksgiving turkeys. Who We Serve: The recipient families are underprivileged and disadvantaged who live in the Kansas City/Raytown, Missouri area. How to Help: If you would like to donate to this effort, you may contact the church at (816) 547-1383 or you may send or give a check to: Heart of God Evangelistic Ministries PO Box 55 Lee’s Summit, MO 64063 All contributions are tax deductible as we are a 501(c)3 non profit organization. We thank you in advance for your assistance and pray God’s blessings upon you. Grace and Peace be unto you! Yolanda Nero Lead Servant/Pastor

Paperwhites Planting Party
Kansas City, MO Parks and Recreation – Learn a few tricks from people who for decades have celebrated the holidays by planting paperwhites, like how to keep your paperwhites from being tall and floppy. This is a hands-on workshop with materials provided to take home a pot of paperwhites. This includes a pot, 5 bulbs and soil mix and also Gardeners Connect will provide a soup luncheon. The cost for this event is $20 with Gardeners Connect members receiving a $5 discount. Additional pots of paperwhites and additional bulbs to plant your own containers will be available at the event. Participants may purchase extra pots and bulbs online or at the event. You may also bring your own pots. Sign up online or mail a check made out to Gardeners Connect to 6911 NW Blair Road, Parkville, Mo. 64152. Please include a note with the mailed check that this is for the paperwhites workshop and specify which paperwhite bulbs you prefer. Paperwhites can be planted in almost any container, from ones with drainage holes like flower pots to containers without drainage holes, which are often preferred as they provide a reservoir of water to keep your plants from drying out between watering and keep any surfaces you place them on dry. All you need is 3-4 inches of depth for the roots to anchor in and keep your plants upright. Bowls, vases, even that old gravy boat you never use all make good planting containers. Plant up paperwhites to give to family and friends as gifts. A pot will brighten anyone’s day. Even think about tailoring the planter to the recipient. A candy dish filled with bulbs for that sweet tooth you know or how about a pint beer glass from your favorite local Kansas City brewery planted with even a single bulb. Join us at the paperwhite planting party for homemade soup, garden banter and lots and lots of paperwhites, plant a few and let them brighten the bleak days of winter for you.
