Special Performance - One Drop Of Love
Museum of Tolerance – The Museum of Tolerance invites you to celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth with a performance of One Drop of Love A multimedia solo performance by Fanshen Cox DiGiovanni One Drop uses the ever-changing racial categories on the U.S. Census as the historical backdrop to this interactive show. Throughout, the audience is asked to participate in defining and redefining these categories for themselves and one another. Fanshen parallels this history with her own, and her family’s, search for roots, identity and for justice. Audiences will travel from the 1700s to the present, to cities around the U.S., and to West and East Africa, to pursue more truth – leading to more justice – and then, perhaps to LOVE. The ultimate goal of the performance is to encourage the discussion of race and racism openly and critically, and to encourage a commitment to making the world more liberated for all. “Show is appropriate for ages 12+ due to some of the raw language and themes” Included with your Museum admission or Membership. Advance ticket purchase recommended.

Artist Q&A and Preview // David B Jang: Systems of Production
Kellogg University Art Gallery – David B Jang: Systems of Production Exhibition Dates Feb. 22 - Apr. 26 2018 The Kellogg University Art Gallery invites you to the preview of our new exhibition "David B Jang: Systems of Production" on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 from 4-6pm Q&A with artist David B. Jang at 4:30pm Admission is free. David Jang, a Los Angeles-based sculptor born in Seoul, South Korea, is known for inventive kinetic installations which employ hacked consumer electronics and subverted household appliances. By using electro-mechanical engineering techniques to create interactive motorized artforms, Jang is propelled by the notion of the systems of production and what it means to re-direct the short life of cast-off mechanical parts and equipment into genuine objects of supreme beauty. Recycled and repurposed materials, in turn, become approachable, lovely and infinite. This show is the first in the of the "Prequel to 2018" series of exhibitions held at the Kellogg Gallery. Please also join us on Saturday, Feb 24, 2018 from 3-6pm for the opening reception. Admission is free.
