Attendance Matters: School Every Day
Starbridge – Did you know that only 17% of students who were chronically absent in Kindergarten and 1st grade are able to read on grade level after 3rd grade? There is a direct connection between chronic absence and students’ academic achievement, especially for students who have disabilities. Every minute in school matters. Families, join us as we explore strategies to overcome barriers that may be getting in the way of getting your child to school. Registration Registration is required. This series is FREE to family members of children who have disabilities or suspected disabilities. Dinner and the Descendants
Central Library of Rochester & Monroe County NY – Join us for a Descendants filled evening with clips of songs and dances from the movies, trivia, a scavenger hunt, and more! So, you think you know the Descendants movies? Come on out to the Central Library for an evening all about the Descendants. Bring your own dinner and enjoy it as we watch clips of songs and dances from the films, then go on a scavenger hunt, and battle to see who knows the Descendants best with a trivia challenge. Feel free to dress as your favorite character, or come as you are! Program is intended for tweens. No registration is required.

From Self-Portrait to Selfie: A History of Photography
George Eastman Museum – January 17 is Museum Selfie Day, a worldwide event that encourages visitors to engage with museums by taking and sharing selfies. Join us for a special after-hours tour of our current History of Photography installation, which provides an overview of the medium through self-portraits, as well as images of photographers and their equipment. Learn about the photographs on view from Associate Curator Jamie M. Allen, and then dive into the history of the selfie with Manager of Digital Engagement Kate Meyers Emery. Finally, test your skills at re-creating some of the self-portraits featured in the gallery. Registration required. Only 20 tickets available!

Sticky Lips BBQ Juke Joint – DAMDOG was well their way to a life committed to performing live music many years ago. They have been beating the road as brothers for over 39 years in the blues group, DAMDOG. The band consists of brothers Larry, Craig, and David Kyle. They were inducted into the Blues Archive Hall of Fame in 2015. They have shared the stage with greats such as J. Geils, Johnathan Edwards, Max Creek, and Devon Allman to name a few. They perform regularly around New York State but thrive playing for the home town crowd. The band has released 4 CDs of original compositions. In each and every one you can feel the passion flow from the music! Once you attend a DAMDOG show you will become a hard core fan!

OLY Olympic Lifting for Beginners!
ROCovery Fitness – Olympic Lifting is centered around two movements. The Snatch, and the Clean & Jerk. These movements challenge and test even the most versatile athletes and many people spend decades perfecting their technique. This calls for a universal approach, so we will learn and practice the main lifts as well as accessory movements and things like mobility work and strength improvement to ensure our bodies adapt appropriately. All ages and abilities will be able to fit in to this model, so please join us and learn how to dynamically move a barbell and some heavy weight…..eventually.
