Encaustic Painting

In the 20th century a student of Kandinsky’s rediscovered encaustic painting, and it has become very popular. Encaustic art is painting with hot wax, and has a softness and depth that you can get with no other painting method. Fee includes encaustic wax, pigments, brushes and tools as well as panels for you to work on -- just show up and create! Register by 11/16

Pasta for Pets
Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary, Inc. Rockford IL – Pasta for Pets will feature spaghetti, salad and breadsticks provided by Olive Garden. As well as a bake sale, 50/50, raffle items and much more! All proceeds benefit the animals aboard Ark! Tickets can be purchased at the Ark for $10 each or at the door for $12 each. Ticket sales begin on Tuesday, October 3rd.

She has come along way in the very short time she has been doing stand-up. From hitting up open mics to being booked for showcases in Chicago in the suburbs. She is the resident host of FATS PRODUCTIONS presents: monthly showcase at Pig Minds Brewing Co. At the end of last summer she had the honor of being asked to Host the comedy showcase which headlined America's Got Talent star, Tom Cotter. Suzi's comedy will let you get to know Suzi, her life observations to whacky relationship antidotes that she has to offer. Guest Feature Jamie Martin is a local comedy "Jobber" and open mic vagabond you may have seen around the stateline area. Aside from being his Mothers favorite comedian his quick wits and dynamic play on words will leave you in a state of laughter and disbelief. Main Feature Allison Dunne is a Milwaukee born, Chicago based comic whose sugar-coated treatment of taboo will have you both laughing and avoiding eye contact with her parents after the show. Allison has appeared at the Limestone Comedy Festival and has opened for touring headliners such as Nick Thune, Mary Mack and Jen Kirkman. Headliner Ricky Gonzalez was raised in Evanston, IL. After his college and semi-pro baseball career, Ricky turned his focus on stand-up comedy. Ricky has since gone on to perform at some of the top comedy venues in the country: Zanies (Chicago, IL); The Improv (Schaumburg, IL); The Comedy Club On State (Madison, WI); Jokes & Notes (Chicago, IL); The Laugh Factory (Chicago, IL); The Comedy Café (Milwaukee, WI); The Comedy Bar (Chicago, IL); and Up Comedy Club (Chicago, IL). Ricky is also, currently, a producer for The Lincoln Lodge and the 'Comedians You Should Know Show' which are two of the most nationally well known and historic showcases in the nation. In 2013, Ricky performed in TBS Just For Laughs Festival in Chicago, IL and also The Traverse City Winter Comedy Arts Festival where he opened for Jeff Garlin, Todd Barry, Pete Holmes, Eddie Pepitone, Ian Edwards, and Judah Friedlander. In June 2016, Ricky released his debut comedy album 'Kid Stuff', which was recorded LIVE at Timothy O'Tooles in Chicago, IL and is currently available on iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify!

Pioneer Woman in the Oil Industry
Burpee Museum of Natural History – Join us for the 2nd presentation in the 17-18 Mahlburg Scholars Lecture Series: Pioneer Woman in the Oil Industry. Our presenter, Nancy L. Engelhardt-Moore, is a geoscientist and paleontologist current living in Houston, Texas. She received her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater and her M.S. in Geology with a specialization in Micropaleontology from Northern Illinois University. As one of the first women to do well-site micropaleontology analysis in the Gulf of Mexico, Nancy will share her experiences as a female pioneer in the oil and gas industry. She has sat over 40 wells including off-shore Trinidad and Israel. In this talk, Nancy will share her work in areas such as: the development of chronostratigraphic frameworks & integrated geologic models for exploration and exploitation reservoir characterization studies including the identification of depositional systems and flow units, and micropaleontological sample analysis. Drumming Circle
Womanspace of Rockford, Illinois – Sunday, November 19 5:00-7:00pm Facilitator: Susan Lee This is an opportunity for drummers around the region to gather and celebrate the rhythms of earth and life. Anyone with a djembe, dunan frame drum, or any other percussive instrument is welcome. For those interested in exploring, show don't have a drum, we will have a few spares. This group will explore a variety of rhythms, learn to speak through drumming, and develop a camaraderie that invokes the healthy vibrations of the earth. Men, women and teens are heartily welcome to enjoy this circle. Don't be concerned if you are not a strong drummer. Many of us are novices, who come to have fun, learn new things and meet new people.

The Oak Ridge Boys Christmas Show
Coronado Performing Arts Center – Every year The Oak Ridge Boys’ Christmas tour plays to packed houses across North America.
