Observation Tower Ribbon Cutting
Chippewa Nature Center – CNC has installed a two-story observation tower on its Wetlands property, located on Badour Road between Pine River and Ashby roads, and will hold a Midland Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting on Sept 26 at 3:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. The tower was gifted to CNC from The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation in preparation for the Dow Gardens Whiting Forest Canopy Walk and Connectivity Project. Additional funding to install the tower at CNC was provided by The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation, The Harry A. and Margaret D. Towsley Foundation, the Midland Area Community Foundation and Consumers Energy Foundation. The lower level of the 33-foot tall observation tower is accessible to those with limited mobility, with a ramp leading to a 21 foot x 24 foot viewing platform. Visitors can access the upper level of the tower by stairs. CNC Executive Director Dennis Pilaske notes, “Visitors will now be able to enjoy and learn more about the fauna and flora of the wetlands by observing it from a different elevation with a fantastic view of a thriving ecosystem, comprised of three wetland basins on 60 acres, interspersed with fields of native grasses.” The Wetlands Area also offers over two miles of hiking trails, a boardwalk, a pavilion with picnic tables and dock access in two of the wetland basins.

An Evening of History and Nature at Averill Preserve
Chippewa Nature Center – Join Gary Skory from Midland County Historical Society and a CNC Naturalist as we explore the nature and history of the Averill Preserve. The film, narrated by Academy Award-winning actor Jeremy Irons and executive produced by Alex Kronemer and Michael Wolfe, is set to air on PBS later this year. Produced by “Brinum-X” , a Latvian company with over 20 years of experience in the entertainment business and with vast experience in over 32 countries all around the world, and directed by Italian theatre director, actor and bubble artist Enrico Pezzoli – one of the most experienced soap bubble performers in the world that have worked as a director and Bubble expert/advisor for many International event as the RIGA 800 Years celebration and the OLYMPICS Games in SOCHI 2014 – with the cooperation of performer and bubble artist Dace Pecoli – as well expert in this field and with the same experience of Enrico Pezzoli, as they worked in team since 1998 – „B” is the first bubble show that give a meaning and a new dimension to the art of soap bubbles, bringing it to an unsurpassed level, and it is going to be one of the most exciting shows that the audience will ever witness.
