Black Canyon Kayak & Hotsprings
CSUSB Recreation & Wellness – To paddle downstream the Black Canyon of the Colorado River is to enjoy life! It is the perfect kayaking adventure for beginner or seasoned paddler alike, for the lower Colorado River is moving flat water with no rapids – nothing but astoundingly tranquil, turquoise waters. But the gently flowing water often disguises the true gems of the Black Canyon. Behold the steaming pools of mineral water geysering from the deeply underground geothermal sources; the hot springs, altogether with the natural granite cliff walls of the Black Canyon, offer the kayakers one-of-a-kind experience seemingly dreamed up by desperate trip-bundle salesperson. In this trip, we will paddle between the towering cliffs and the looming walls of the Black Canyon as we navigate the once mighty Colorado River, now tamed by the zenith of dam engineering – the Hoover Dam, where we launch the kayaks.
