Prophetic Preaching in a Time Such as This
Church of the Redeemer-Episcopal, Kenmore, Washington – Clergy and preachers are invited to attend this special one-day workshop offered by The Reverend Ed Bacon and explore the art of Jesus’ sermons that transcended dualities, dichotomies, and fear-based tribalism. Drawing on comments received from many preachers who have found our world of current events to be so challenging, this offering is designed to help us find our voices in a time such as this. There are characteristics of Jesus’s teaching-sermons that balanced critical truth-speaking with unequivocal love for his listeners. We will explore the art of preaching that transcends the dichotomies and dualities of the pastoral and the political. The workshop is offered free of charge underwritten by St. Mark’s Cathedral and a grant from the Office of the Bishop of the Diocese of Olympia. Lunch is provided but advanced registration is required.

Awareness Through Movement 6 Week Series
Pioneer Square Seattle – Feldenkrais | Awareness Through Movement; Find Comfort in Sitting Thursdays from Noon to 1pm - February 22nd through March 29th Join us for a 6-week series to find comfort in sitting. Many people leave the workplace at the end of the day, not-so-blissfully unaware of how they’ve been carrying themselves. Lack of awareness in how we’re moving can lead to to injury, chronic pain, and a skewed sense of self. In this series you will find awareness in your movement with an emphasis in sitting comfortably. Whether it’s lower or upper back, shoulder, neck, or wrist issues, there are a plethora of aches and pains that go along with a desk job. Come learn other options for movement, increase your awareness, and make your comfort a priority. Classes are slow in pace, with key themes such as “rest before you need to”, “less is more”, and “it’s ok to fall asleep.” Want to burn 400 calories in an hour? This class is not for you. If you want to explore why you move the way you do, get to know yourself in a completely new way, and develop new options for movement, this series will be a great fit.
