Sanctuary Everywhere Vigil
Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice – We are bringing Sanctuary to the Streets! Gather with us for an interfaith expression of solidarity with our immigrant and refugee community. Through prayer, song, testimony and ritual, our Washington County community will join together across nationality, language, class, race and creed in the fight against predatory ICE enforcement and all forms of injustice. Why is this vigil taking place at 8 AM and at the WA CO. Courthouse? Unmarked Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have been periodically targeting community members at the WA CO. Courthouse on Monday's between 8:00 - 10 AM for the last couple of months. Our vigil seeks to bring awareness, accountability, and a stop towards ICE's preditory tactics in our community. Co-hosted by: IMIrJ, Unite Oregon, and the Hillsboro Faith Alliance Free 2-hour on-street parking is available. Also accessible by Max Blue Line (Hillsboro Central/SE 3rd TC MAX Station). ******************* ¡Estamos? ?creando? ?Santuario? ?en? ?las? ?calles!? ?Reu´nase? ?con? ?nosotrxs? ?para? ?una? ?expresio´n? ?interfe? ?de? ?solidaridad? ?con? ?nuestra comunidad? ?de? ?inmigrantes? ?y? ?refugiadxs.? ?Con? ?oraciones,? ?canciones,? ?testimonios? ?y? ?rituales,? ?nuestra? ?comunidad? ?del condado? ?de? ?Washington? ?se? ?unira´? ?a? ?trave´s? ?de? ?la? ?nacionalidad,? ?el? ?idioma,? ?la? ?clase,? ?la? ?raza? ?y? ?el? ?credo? ?para? ?luchar? ?juntxs en? ?contra? ?de? ?los? ?abusos? ?de? ?ICE? ?y? ?todas? ?las? ?formas? ?de? ?injusticia. ¿Por qué estamos teniendo nuestra vigilia a las 8 A. Clinton Street Resistance presents The Last Waltz
Clinton Street Theater – Martin Scorsese's documentary of the 1976 final performance of the legendary Sixties rock group The Band is at once a show featuring some of the greatest rock performers of their generation and a bittersweet look back at an era that was just beginning to fade. As Scorsese guides the group through interview segments discussing their 15 years together, these relatively young men sound like battle-weary survivors. But The Band were in splendid form for this show, and their multiple guest stars pulled out all the stops, especially Muddy Waters, whose "Mannish Boy" is so powerful it nearly burns a hole in the screen; Van Morrison, with a rousing performance of "Caravan;" and Bob Dylan, whose "Baby Let Me Follow You Down" displays the brilliant cockiness of his barnstorming days with this band. The all-star camera crew and superb stereo sound mix create what is considered to be of the best-looking and sounding rock films ever (as the opening credit says, play this movie loud!), and two studio-shot sequences with Emmylou Harris and The Staple Singers stand on their own. Tonight's nonprofit is Friends of the Columbia Gorge, the only non-profit organization dedicated entirely to ensuring that the beautiful and wild Columbia Gorge remains a place apart, an unspoiled treasure for generations to come.
