A Day of Mindfulness with Vinny Ferraro at PIMC
Portland Insight Meditation Center – This day-long retreat will focus on the Insight practice and the Heart practices of the Buddha. Vinny, visiting teacher and nationally recognized for his work with at-risk youth, will guide participants in the art of "coming home" towards developing a personal mindfulness practice, part of a larger focus of how people can making caring for themselves a priority. The program will guide the participants in practicing mindfulness in many different modalities. Whether it's a sitting, walking, or sharing in a small group setting. Life presents us with the challenge of living from a place of wisdom and its resulting true happiness, rather than from delusion and its corresponding suffering. This path of awakening leads us towards the wisdom on how to live skillfully. By simply observing our bodies and minds, we begin to know experience as it presents itself. As understanding deepens, we learn to live life with a wiser and more loving heart. SUGGESTED DONATION: $70 (No one turned away for lack of funds) ABOUT THE TEACHER: Vinny Ferraro is both the Senior Trainer for Mindful Schools in Oakland, California, and a Dharma teacher. His work was the subject of MTV's If You Really Knew Me. He helped establish the Dharma Punx mindfulness movement in the mid 1990's. In 2001, he began teaching for Challenge Day, teaching emotional intelligence and other social skills, eventually becoming their Training Director, and leading workshops to more than 100,000 young people. He then became the Training Director for the Mind Body Awareness Project, a non-profit that teaches meditation to the incarcerated. He is a Guiding Teacher for Against the Stream, and for 14 years has lead a Friday night meditation group in San Francisco, and he doesn't like talking about himself in the third person.

New Notes Music Together Free Demo Class
Beacock Music and Education Center – Join us for a free demo class! For hundreds of thousands of families worldwide, Music Together is children and their grownups joyfully sharing songs, rhymes, movement, and instrument play, both in music class and in their daily lives. A pioneer in early childhood music and movement education, Music Together offers classes for children from birth through kindergarten, in which parents and caregivers actively participate. Wiggling, singing, and laughing with your child is so much fun—it’s easy to forget how much learning is taking place! Our research-based curriculum not only develops music skills, it nurtures creativity, self-expression, and confidence while also supporting social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Because these benefits build over time, children enjoy the fullest growth in each of these areas when they participate as consistently as possible up through kindergarten.
