Special Performance - One Drop Of Love
Museum of Tolerance – The Museum of Tolerance invites you to celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth with a performance of One Drop of Love A multimedia solo performance by Fanshen Cox DiGiovanni One Drop uses the ever-changing racial categories on the U.S. Census as the historical backdrop to this interactive show. Throughout, the audience is asked to participate in defining and redefining these categories for themselves and one another. Fanshen parallels this history with her own, and her family’s, search for roots, identity and for justice. Audiences will travel from the 1700s to the present, to cities around the U.S., and to West and East Africa, to pursue more truth – leading to more justice – and then, perhaps to LOVE. The ultimate goal of the performance is to encourage the discussion of race and racism openly and critically, and to encourage a commitment to making the world more liberated for all. “Show is appropriate for ages 12+ due to some of the raw language and themes” Included with your Museum admission or Membership. Advance ticket purchase recommended.

VSU's Where's the Love? 2018
VSU Bruins – RSVP: Thursday, February 22 (Week 7) | 6-8PM | Charles E. Young Grand Salon at Kerckhoff Hall In 1996, former VSU President Thien Minh Ly fell victim to a tragic hate crime. Where's the Love honors the memory of Ly and further brings attention to the issues of hate crimes, prejudice, and violence affecting the broader Asian-American community today. The Vietnamese Student Union (VSU) at UCLA is solemnly honored to host this awareness & commemoration event to redirect the spotlight onto the discrimination that afflicts Asian Americans but often fails to gain its due recognition by the media. The current, volatile political environment in the United States has lured out a dangerous racial rhetoric, and the rate of hate crimes has increased significantly over the past two years. As such, Where's the Love plays a greater role, now more than ever, in drawing attention to the hate crimes and struggles faced by the Asian American community, which often go unacknowledged and are rendered insignificant by mainstream media and problematic stereotypes. Where's the Love? will host a guest speaker, a hate crime incident gallery walk, a Q&A panel, and a candlelight vigil. Free dinner will be provided for attendees. Please RSVP through the link above. If you have any questions or are interested in contributing to our event, please contact Steven Duong ( or Kristine Vo ( Backed by the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion; the Cultural Affairs Commission; Campus Life; and the Undergraduate Student Association Council.
